The carnival
The 2026 Oceania Orienteering Championships brought the region’s orienteers to Canberra for nine days: the Oceania Middle, Relay, Long and Sprint Championships, with the Australian Schools Championships in the middle of the week. On each schools day, public races in the Flight of the Bogong series ran on the same terrain. meshO supplied all the event services, as at the Australian Championships in Brisbane in 2025, and added to them.

What meshO provided
- Results on monitors in the arena
- Radio controls in the field on the meshO mesh
- A live audio stream of the commentary
- PA equipment for commentary in the arena
- Help setting up and supporting the commentary
- A touch-screen results kiosk for competitors, new for this carnival
- Much stronger network infrastructure in the arena than in 2025, including public Wi-Fi for results on competitors’ phones
The arena set-up
Each day’s arena was built from the same six spaces, all running on battery power stations.
- The meshO trailer carried Starlink internet, the router and a 16-port PoE switch, with a Wi-Fi access point and six results screens.
- The download marquee had two download lanes, each with a meshO Manager download station, a backup MeOS station, SportIdent readers and a splits printer. The meshO Manager server and meshO Prime ran here, on a second 16-port PoE switch with its own Wi-Fi access point, linked to the trailer by a wireless network bridge.
- The TV marquee held four more results screens, connected over Wi-Fi.
- The commentary marquee had an iMac, a mixing board, desk and wireless microphones, and wired and wireless speakers around the arena.
- The kiosk marquee held the touch-screen results kiosk, on the Wi-Fi.
- The registration marquee had the registration laptop and a SportIdent reader, also on the Wi-Fi.
The host carnival supplied the download and registration laptops, the SportIdent readers, the registration and kiosk marquees, and the commentators’ own laptops.
