meshO base plates - extra

As a follow up from the previous base plates post, a few more revisions have been done and some 3D printing tweaks.

From the left:

  1. first prototype (in PLA). Too slow to print and too much material.
  2. second prototype (in PLA). Much better, and works when attached to both a horizonal bar and a vertical bar
  3. first print in PETG so it can be used outdoors
  4. strengthening of the bottom clip, and a retainer lug that holds the radio in place even if the bottom clip hasn’t latched or has been broken off
  5. the final version - minor tweaks to make the clip attach easier and Matt found a better print settings :)

We’ll get a set of 10 of these printed and tested next time we have an event.

meshO on off

Another job for the 3D printer is to help create something to hold a magnet. We are aiming to have no physical buttons on the meshO Controls (so that there is less chance of water/dust ingress, plus they’d be no chance that they can be accidently turned off). Instead you’ll need to swipe a magnet on the side to turn the meshO Control on and off, so we need a convenient way to hold a magnet:
