meshO base plates

One thing that was obvious after a few tests was that we needed a better way to secure the meshO units. We’d used cable ties, string, elastic and other stuff, but there must be a better way!?

So - it was time to design a “base plate” for securely and easily attaching the radio to control stands, masts, etc. It also needs to be easily removed too!

The first iteration design was 3D printed - it worked, but could it be improved?

Here’s the 2nd iteration. About half the material and half the time to 3D print. Seems sturdy enough too and more holes will make it easier to mount on to different things.

Here’s the print in PETG plastic (designed to be used outdoors). It has good flex and strength (and an amazing colour!).

We used these new base plates at both the recent NOL events (Wee Jasper & Awoonga): they worked perfectly - the meshO Controls were easy to snap in to place and securely held, and at the end of the event it was simple to grab the radios.
